Description
A fire, that started in her unloading gear, on December 29, 1979 damaged the forward cabins extensively. The fire was caused by sparks from an acetylene torch, while the vessel was undergoing repairs in Toledo, Ohio by the Hans Hansen Welding Co. A new pilot house and other cabins were installed by the American Ship Building Co. (Toledo , Ohio) and the vessel returned to service for the spring of 1981.

The vessel was laid up for the last time, in Toledo, Ohio, at the end of the 1990 season.
