Description
After Typaldos Lines went out of business in 1968 ATHINAI was laid up initially at Kynosoura and later Eleusis Bay, Greece and never operated again. In 1978, after lying derelict for a decade she looked terrible and was used with little modification as a movie set for filming Raise the Titanic. After filming completed she was returned to the layup fleet at Eleusis Bay and remained there for another decade. In 1989 she was finally sold for scrapping and towed to Aliaga, Turkey to be cut up.
