Griffon - Welland Canal - December 29, 2009

CCGS Griffon had to make a high speed run across Lake Ontario in freezing spray conditions to arrive at the Welland Canal in time to transit upbound before the canal closed for the season. The left-hand search light has been turned on; the heat from the lamp will melt the ice on the lens.
