Description
Named Neshanic during construction, but launched as Marquette.

Collided with the tanker S.E. Graham in the Newport, Rhode Island harbour on August 7, 1959. The S.E. Graham, loaded with 1,000,000 gallons of gasoline, resulted in an explosion that killed 15 aboard the Gulfoil. The ship was written off as a constructive loss and the damaged hull was sold to the Maryland Shipbuilding & Drydock Company (Baltimore, Maryland).
