Description
Lengthened 55’ and converted to self-unloader in 1942 by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company (Manitowoc, Wisconsin). On November 27, 1975 the American Bureau of Shipping condemned the ship for carriage of cargo while trying to load a cargo of soya beans at Toledo, Ohio. The ship was sailed to Port Colborne, Ontario and laid up. It was Sold for scrap in 1976 to Marine Salvage Ltd. (Port Colborne, Ontario). On August 26, 1978 vandals set a fire, destroying the forward cabins. The ship was resold to Spanish shipbreakers in June 1979. The scrap tow cleared Quebec on July 6, 1979, along with the Ferndale, towed by the Polish tug Jantar. The tow arrived in Castellon, Spain on Aug 3, 1979.
