Description
Stranded on November 27, 1905 on Lake Superior (6 miles northeast of Two Harbors, Minnesota) in a heavy storm. The Lafayette was towing the barge Manila, upbound for Superior, Wisconsin, when the vessel broke in two and the barge ran aground. One member of the Lafayette crew was lost.
