Description
During the spring 1980 fitout in Toronto, a crack was found in the boiler. It was deemed uneconomical to repair. The ship was sold, along with sister ship Lac Des Iles, to be used as grain storage in Mexico. Both vessels left in May, 1981, towed by Irving Birch, but both foundered (Marlhill on May 30 and Lac Des Iles on June 1) along the Atlantic seaboard, before reaching Mexico.
